Well, it has almost been two weeks since I heard from the accommodations (ADA) department about allowing Dougal to work with me. After emailing them a month after I sent in the application and supporting documents to check on the status of my case I received several phone calls from them back to back. The first said I was denied then a second told me there was a change in the status to denied/maybe. Confused I asked for an email for the reason for the denial or what exactly "denied/maybe" entailed. So far, only silence...
They also seemed very confused (aggravated) when I explained that I had already started a conversation with my regional director about this accommodation. My boss stated he had no idea what or how service dogs do, so I have not only gone into education mode with him but also designed a "trial basis" schedule so no one feels backed into a corner. I also called him earlier in the week to see if he had any correspondence with the ADA department, which he had not.
I have also gone to my HR department to notify her (she had been on vacation) of the lack of response. She now wishes to be on any of the emails that (hopefully) come through about the subject.
