I was called by the "institutional director" this afternoon to discuss my request for my service dog to come to work as a reasonable accommodation. It appears that the "don't have a relapse" lady (Yes, that's my name for her now) was true to her word that she would have an answer for me in 2 or 3 days. Needless to say, I was nervous but I thought I had covered any bases that they might have had to deny me.
As I discussed before, I suggested a trial period for Dougal and me so that the bosses felt they had the reigns and could stop the process at any point. It seems this was not even necessary. The "institutional director" had a few questions about what Dougal did for me and things like if I knew I was going to be in the secured areas all day what I would do with him. After explaining those things she had concerns about she was satisfied and not only agreed to allow Dougal but nixed the trial period. She popped an email to the "don't have a relapse" lady as well as my leadership to advise them she was fine with this arrangement.
While I am pretty sure this whole roller-coaster ride is over I am not sure if I have to wait on some sort of "official document" before we show up to work.
