Wow, I can not believe how time flies. Dougal and I have been working together in the new job for over a month now. Overall all it has been a good experience, though there are times I feel badly for Dougal as there are long periods of time I have to leave him sequestered as I am working in area(s) he is not allowed. But him being such a great dog seems to weather it all very well, and I know there are several other offices on our floor that are very quick to offer sitting services.
I have been surprised how quickly the rumor mill had delivered the news of a dog working in the admin building and how many have made sure to "accidentally" stop by to see the new employee. So far we have only had two incidences. Had an employee asking to use my office to clock into work as she had a meeting here on our floor. She didn't know there was a dog in the office and was surprised by him as he stuck his nose out from the desk. She was not happy and was sure to make it known and made some very ablest statements which I corrected quickly. Since then I have made up some stickers and placed them on my door and the exit doors notifying others that there is a service dog on the floor. The other is an employee who came to see me and Dougal was lying on the floor across the entrance of my office and the hallway people watching. The gentleman, unknown to me, was scared of dogs and ran off to call me from the first floor. I guess I need a better sign on the stairway. A baby gate for the office is something I will purchasing.
Overall, everything has been very positive. I get asked every day when I am bringing Dougal down into the "restricted" area. I have to tell them that isn't going to happen but they are more than welcome to stop by and visit.
