"She who must be obeyed" decided about 8 pm that she wanted chips and dip. Being the wonderful husband I am offered to go pick up some for her. Happy Wife happy life, right? Well being so late and nothing being close I was forced to take a 15-minute drive to the closest gas station. Here in Florida most are Circle K's and open 24 hours.
I almost always take Dougal for trips like this, never know especially since the Navy has decided on doing tons of flybys here as of late. Even on short trips I also get him out and take him inside. Reasoning is I may need him and there are way too many dog-napping stories I see. Don't care how small a chance it is, I am not taking it.
As we got to the gas station there were only a couple of cars there and a few of the forest dwellers (homeless people that live in the national forest) hanging out outside. We went in grabbed up some munchies and headed to the counter. There were 3 workers inside, mostly trying to clean up. Dougal knew one and pulled at his lead letting me know she was behind me (he was wanting pets too, I'm not dumb). But she started talking to Dougal saying "I know, but your working, and Im not supposed to pet you". I love hearing things like that, even when they are directed at Dougal. Tells me that they know the rules, and I appreciate that. So we started having some small talk which grew into SD behavior and our 2 golden questions. Talked about SD without leads as one of the ladies mentioned a guy that brings in his pittie all the time without one. Not one of my favorite topics but I gave her how I feel about that subject along with what the ADA says about it. The young lady at the counter was so enamored with Dougal's coat that he was allowed to prop himself on the counter so she could meet and pet him. We went around and let everyone greet him. It was a very nice trip.
