General First Backyard Bath

Poor little Peaches got her first backyard bath last weekend. She was not a fan when she found she was not allowed to walk around and take a dirt bath during the experience. :D But, it had got to the point where it had to be done and with it being Thanksgiving time there was no way to take her to a proper groomer so it was red-neck time. I grabbed the shampoo, and towel and headed to the dreaded garden hose.

Starting the process she was quite happy that all the "magic water" started flowing from the strange hose thing. She was quite happy being able to drink and splash in it but once I picked up the hose things took a dramatic turn! She decided very quickly that she did not appreciate that I was putting that wet stuff all over her, especially her head and tail! This was not kosher she seemed to decide while attempting to escape and dive into the nearby sand pit but was hampered due to the blasted leash! Then it got even worse as I started "drowning" her with the shampoo. The smell of it seemed to cause convulsions and she had to shake as vigorously as possible to get the foul-smelling substance off. My laughing did not make things any easier for her as I think she thought I was making fun of her so decided to dry herself on anything I was wearing. Once finished with the "evil" shampoo the rinse seemed to go smoother and actually seemed to like the belly rubs and foot rubs and the towel was even better.

After getting her about half dry we headed inside, I think she was still either mad at me or overly happy at being cleaned as she took off like a scalded chicken to see her mother who was comfortably lying in bed. Needless to say, Peaches was confused as Mom started yelling and screaming something about a soaking wet dog on her bed. Peaches attempted to find this "soaking wet" dog and help Mom get rid of it by checking under the covers and even under Mom herself.

I think the wife is still a little grumpy but Peaches and I had great fun. Might be that she who must be obeyed helps us next time...
