I was hoping to get my request for reasonable accommodations out before close of business Friday but work comes before fun (?) and I simply ran out of time, so I will have to send it out on Tuesday, as Monday is Labor day.
Since I was informed of this decision last Thursday (8/29) I have been overwhelmed by the support of many of my coworkers, it really has blunted my anger and despair of the actions that were taken. I am so happy to see this outpouring of support, and it has even come from some of the workers within the "secure area", where Dougal is not allowed, who have only seen or heard of Dougal in passing. Currently, I have about 10 letters advocating for me asking that Dougal be allowed to continue doing his job. Those showed up on my desk or in my email in a 24 hour time frame, and I am told there are more on the way. Yes, these will go into the reasonable accommodations packet on Tuesday! Will they help? I really don't know, to be honest with the "dont have a relapse" lady still having her hand in this process I can't promise what attachments I include will continue up the correct path.
Just for informational purposes the "dont have a relapse" lady comes from one of the last emails I received from the HR person that handles ADA accommodations for our overall state department. The statement "Dont have a relapse" is how the email to me started. I was not a happy camper! So, that is her name now. Oh, and by the way, you will notice I do not put where I work, titles, and things like that in my blogs, I will say I work for the state of Florida but thats about it. There could be legal and/or job implications for doing so, I hope you understand.
The letter can be seen from the attachment below, it's the PDF there.
