KANSAS CITY, MO. — Three Dog Bakery recently announced a donation of $25,641 to Friends in Service of Heroes (F.I.S.H.), exceeding its 2021 donation of $16,428. The funds, which were raised by Three Dog Bakery through a one-day Veterans Day fundraiser, will go toward veterans in need of service dogs.

The company presented a check to Paul Chapa, founder and president of F.I.S.H., on Dec. 1 during a ceremony at Three Dog Bakery's store in the Country Club Plaza, Kansas City. The ceremony was attended by Mark Miller, a retired first-class Army sergeant, who was awarded with Gary Lee, a service dog named after police officers and veterans who died during duty.

"These service dogs, for many of our veterans, are the best medicine they can have," Chapa said. "After only a few short weeks, we hear stories about sleeping all night and reduced anxiety. They are life changers and life savers."
Three Dog Bakery began its Veterans Day fundraising initiative in 2014, through which the company donates 15% of product sales to F.I.S.H. each year. The company has donated more than $100,000 to F.I.S.H. since 2014.

"This wonderful organization has gone above and beyond to improve the lives of veterans by providing them with service dogs," said Joe Dent, president of franchising and corporate bakeries at Three Dog Bakery. "These dogs are trained for physical disabilities, PTSD, emotional support and more. Three Dog Bakery is proud to support F.I.S.H. and give back to veterans that have put it all on the line for our country."
