Guiding Eyes for the Blind provides guide dogs to people with vision loss and vision impairment at no cost to the recipient and today, the trainees had their first major opportunity to prepare.
During the training, about 15 puppies, ranging from 4 months - 18 months old, had the opportunity to take in the different sights and sounds of the airport and go through the motions they may experience once placed with a handler.

The young pups and future guide dogs were accompanied by local "Puppy Raisers" who volunteer and provide them with lots of love, support and training for the first 14-16 months of their lives.
Training consists of basic obedience and socialization before the puppies then travel back to the Guiding Eyes New York campus for what's known as "Puppy College."
There, the trainees begin their formal training to become guide dogs.
