The bill has been passed for Texas! Not sure, at the time of this post, if the governor is going to sign it but I doubt this would be vetoed.
This is for the people that pretend to have service dogs. A person commits an offense if the person intentionally or knowingly represents that an animal is an assistance animal or a service animal when the animal is not specially trained or equipped to help a person with a disability.
The penalty is a misdemeanor with cash punishment of up to $1000.00 and 30 hours of community service.
Supposed to go into effect on Sept. 1st 2023.
Now, let's see if we can get law enforcement to issue out some summons for this.
