I set up a Weekend out, away from the house. We knew we wanted to enjoy the beach but wanted to stay there for a few days instead of a simple day trip.
So I booked at the Hilton and requested a beach view. While filing in the booking I noticed a service dog-specific question. They wanted to know if we were bringing one. I got a little anxious about it as I had not seen the price for the room yet. Were they going to jack up the price because we were bringing my service dog? Well, as normal I was overthinking everything. No increase, no "unavailable rooms" because of Dougal. Later I was thinking about it I actually like that they asked, and it was recorded on the ticket. No cause for confusion when we got there.
The only negative I can remember was when the hostess pointed out that the beach was not pet-friendly. We told her that was fine as Dougal was not a pet and was allowed on the beach. She didn't argue and we collected our "keys" and went to the room.
Oh and the rooms were a little small, but we were expecting that. I was not going to pay for a suite that we were only going to sleep in.
The weekend went wonderfully. All of us, including Dougal, had a wonderful time exploring the beach, people-watching and having a few adult beverages.
