In Montgomery County's Boyds community, the Warrior Canine Connection has trained more than 100 puppies to become service dogs, assisting veterans with both their physical and emotional needs.

Veterans like Brent McKeag, who received a service dog two years ago, say the results are astounding.

"It really lightens the load on my stress level. I'm able to function properly even while I'm at work," said McKeag.

His service dog is named after Matthew Tallman, an army pilot who lost his life while fighting in the Middle East more 15 years ago.

Tallman's mother recently met the dog who bears her son's name.

"As long as the dog's alive, Matthew's alive," said Virginia Tallman.
