BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A settlement has been reached with a Williamsville nail salon following allegations of discrimination against an individual violating the Americans with Disabilities Act in June 2023, the U.S. Attorney's office announced Monday.
According to the settlement, a man using a service dog attempted to enter Le Petit Nails and Spa on Transit Road on or around June 2, 2023 with his wife. It is alleged that both an employee and the owner told him that dogs were not allowed at the spa.
The complainant is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and has service-connected post-traumatic stress disorder requiring treatment and the use of a service dog, the settlement said.
As a result, Le Petit will adopt a nondiscrimination policy that is provided to all current and future employees, will post a sign that states that service animals are allowed on the premises and will also pay $1,000 to the complainant.
