Welcome to the Introverted Vet! Decided I need to put an introduction up.
My history: I Graduated High school in 1988 in a podunk town in Georgia. Joined the military as a nuclear, biological, and chemical specialist (54B). In other words a car (tank) washer. Seriously we did things related to the troop's defense when it came to being attacked in those ways and fun stuff like blowing smoke (literally) and recon. Most of my military experience was in REMF assignments as a company-level NBC NCO and decon specialist within a military intelligence unit in Ft. Hood, Tx. We were sent to play in the middle east for Sadam's incursion in 1990. We were one of the first units there and one of the last out. Early 1992 I found myself on a tiny atoll where we were helping destroy a butt-load of chemical weapons. Best tour ever! I ended my service in Hawaii (Ft. Shafter) going through a medical because of some shoulder damage I received.
I left the service and headed back home to Georgia. Found a job within the health field, eventually got married, and had 2 kids. During this time I was diagnosed with PTSD. I decided to go talk to someone after throwing my wife off the bed and then waking up while I was covering her and looking for my gas mask and weapon.
Later I found myself in law enforcement. The marriage ended, as the wife decided she liked drugs and other guys. I later discovered a young lady who also had 2 kids and we combined families. Still love her as much today as back then. The (ex)wife dropped the kids off one day for visitation and she never came back, well not for a few years. I found that Law enforcement very fulfilling as I was able to work with a lot of my "disabilities". Back in the combat zone, right?
Several years later the VA stepped in, after reviewing my records and found me (financially) incompetent which stripped me of my 2nd amendment. Or, I should say they gave me an option to either sign off on a piece of paper that there was nothing wrong with me ie. PTSD or I could agree with the PTSD finding. All-in-all there went any future plans within law enforcement, if you can't qualify with your sidearm you can not be POST certified.
Over the next few years, I jumped from job to job. Finally, after fighting for a while with the VA they agreed to send me back to school. I enrolled in the local tech college and started "officially" learning computers. I have loved working on and playing with computers for a very long time. I worked for the college while in classes and once I graduated I went to work for a school district in South Carolina. Worked there for a few years and was offered a job at a medical lab about 5 minutes from our apartment. Still working for them, even though we were bought up by a mega lab last year.
