Paws of War launches new Long Island support center for veterans and their dogs
LONG ISLAND (PIX11) — An organization that supports veterans, first responders, and their dogs is getting a new home.
Paws of War is opening a new veteran support command center on Long Island. It's the first of its kind in New York.
The new 2,000-square-foot center will provide a space for those struggling with PTSD, mental health crises, addiction, and homelessness.
The center will also accommodate their companion and service animals. It will include workstations, offices, a therapy area, and client meeting rooms.
Since its founding, Paws of War has rescued hundreds of dogs and cats. For more information on getting a service dog or a companion animal, click here.
